Description
This well presented DVD tells of the work of Operation Mercy Charitable
Company (OMCC) who exist to improve the lives of the Dalits – the
so-called untouchables. Interestingly, my computer did not even know the
name Dalit which said something to me!
Michael Lawson leads us through interviews with those working with these
people, how education and small loans can transform a community and
shows the magnitude of the task ahead. There are 250 million of these
people, shunned and oppressed and locked into menial jobs, just by their
birth. Only a fraction of these have been helped so far, but the vision
of the charity is far-reaching and their aim is to bring hope to them
all.

"I was left with a mixture of emotions after watching this DVD. Despair
at how long this persecution of a section of India’s population has
lasted, and distress at seeing how this manifests itself, mixed with
hope at what OMCC is achieving already and delight at the happy faces of
the children now in education."
