Return to the heart and majesty of the Great Smokey Mountains, and to the beloved characters that gave life to Catherine Marshall's international bestseller.

Today, the hamlet of Cutter Gap shows the ravages of time. Though long abandoned, it still holds bittersweet memories of a simpler time. Christy Huddleston, a woman in the autumn of her life, remembers them. A return to Cutter Gap's boarded up mission house brings them into focus when her life was changed, enriched and defined ..

1912 is the year that Christy, a yound missionary comes to Cutter Gap. In the fiercely traditional Appalachian community, Christy is met with suspicion. By Reverend Spencer and Doctor MacNeill she is met with respect and a love in both men's hearts. Christy seeks to break through generations of superstition by supporting a move to connect the town to civilisation with a paved road. Cutter Gap fears a pathway to the 'outlanders' will bring the woes of the 20th century to their doorsteps. But Christy's not soley responsible for bringing Cutter Gap into the modern age: her prize student Zacharias Holt dreams of someday leaving home for a career as a doctor. It's a dream no one can fathom. Nor can they grasp the sudden appearance of Harriet Quimby, a downed pilot who shakes Cutter Gap with her defiant independence. But it's Christy who is affected most. Zacharias becomes a symbol of everything she has worked for; Harriet becomes a symbol of everything she wants to be.

In this very special year Christy discovers in Harriet a drive she never knew existed. In two men, she discovers a love she never thought possible. In the people of Cutter Gap, she learns more about tradition, loyalty and family than she could ever have hoped to teach.

Rich in character, hauntingly evocative of a lost era and inspired by the life of Catherine Marshall's own mother, Christy: return to Cutter Gap is a rewarding and timeless drama about the power of family, the gift of faith, the beauty of tradition and the simple blessings of life.
